4947 (34). Dome shapes stamp seal with silver ring, Anatolia: Hittite Period, ca. 1400-1200 B.C. One of the seven nations originally inhabiting the present land of Israel,the Hittites belong to the Indo-European nations. This seal is decorated with three incised zones carrying various forms of incised decoration. In the middle zone are Hittite hieroglyphic characters, a script which is still not perfectly understood today. ‘From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your border’. Joshua 1:4.
