4905. THE ‘MASTERMAN MARK’ AT THE WESTERN COAST OF THE DEAD SEA. FROM 1900 TILL 1913, THE PALESTINIAN EXPLORATION FOUND WAS MEASURING THE LEVEL OF THE DEAD SEA BY THE ‘BENCHMARK’ CARVED ON THIS ROCK. IT IS NAMED AFTER MR. MASTERMAN, A BRITISH GEOLOGIST WHO ONCE EVERY YEAR MADE A TRIP TO THE DEAD SEA AND MADE THE MEASUREMENT ACCORDING TO THE MARKING ON THE ROCK.
