4451. ROCK CARVED BURRIAL CAVES DATING FROM THE 1ST. C. AD LOCATED ON THE HILL OF ‘HAKEL DAMMA’ (THE LAND OF BLOOD) SOUTH OF JERUSALEM NEAR THE KIDRON VALLEY. THE DECEASED WAS PLACED ON SPECIALY CARVED SHELVES AND WHEN THE BODY BECAME A SKELETON THE BONES WERE PLACED IN SPECIALLY CARVED AND DECORATED OSSUARYES. THIS SHELF CONTAINS BONES OF SEVERAL SKELETONS, POSSIBLY COLLECTED FROM DIFFERENT CAVES IN ORDER TO SAVE THEM FROM DESTRUCTION
