4580. DANDARAH was the capital of the sixth province of pharaonic Upper Egypt and was dedicated to the sky and fertility goddess Hathor. Her temple is one of the best preserved in Egypt. The present building dates to the Ptolemaic Period (305-30 BC) and was completed by the Roman emperor Tiberius (ad 14-37)
